Wednesday, 05.09.2007, 08:10am (GMT+6)

The High Court Tuesday granted an anticipatory bail for six months to BNP chairperson''s adviser Brig Gen (retd) Hannan Shah and his associates in an arms case, reports UNB.

An HC division bench, comprising Justice MA Wahhab Mian and Justice M Emdadul Haque, granted their prayers as they surrendered before it seeking bail.

Granting the anticipatory bail, the court issued rule upon the government to explain why they should not be granted a regular bail.

On May 6, an Awami League leader of Kapashia upazila filed the case with Gazipur cognizance court against Hannan Shah and others accusing them of making an armed attack on an

AL procession on October 28, the last day of BNP-Jammat alliance rule. Barrister Mahbubuddin Khokan appeared for Hannan Shah and the others.
