Pakistan-Bangladesh enjoys deep-rooted friendly relations: Shaukat Aziz

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Bangladesh enjoy deep rooted friendly relations based on shared faith, common history, culture and heritage which will continue to grow stronger, Prime Minister Shaukat said.

The Prime Minister said this while talking to the outgoing High Commissioner of Bangladesh F.A. Shamim Ahmed who paid a farewell call on the Prime Minister here on at the Prime Minister’s House on Thursday.

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Bangladesh. He said that there is a great scope to increase the co-operation in a host of areas and further strengthen friendly relations.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan and Bangladesh also share the objectives of promoting regional cooperation to accelerate development and prosperity in the region. He said SAARC is an important organization and can bring peace, prosperity and harmony in South Asia.

He said there is need to further energize SAARC to promote regional co-operation for the mutual benefit of its member countries.

The Prime Minister appreciated the role played by the outgoing High Commissioner for helping the earthquake-affected people. He said that there is a need to promote people to people contacts for enhancing friendly relations between the two countries.

Shamim Ahmed said that Bangladesh values its close and friendly relations with the Pakistan and desires to further strengthen diplomatic, political, economic and trade relations with Pakistan.

He thanked the Prime Minister for the co-operation and support during his stay in Pakistan. He said, he will always remember the hospitality and affection extended by the people and the government of Pakistan and will continue to work for further strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries.
