Bangladesh University film festival begins
Saturday, 05.05.2007, 11:08am (GMT+6)

BSS, Dhaka: A two-day film festival of Bangladesh University began on its campus in Dhaka on Thursday with a call for waging a movement against the trend of making obscene films in the country.

Inaugurating the university’s first-ever trilingual film festival, eminent film director Chashi Nazrul Islam said that cinema making had now become backtracked mainly due to the production of ‘unhealthy’ films, detrimental to the country’s long tradition and culture.

‘This trend in film making reflects moral degradation in other spheres of our society,’ he said adding that the number of cine-goers had drastically reduced due to this undesired practice in the country’s film industry.
