Ties between Dhaka, Kyrgyzstan to be strengthened further: Bangladesh President

DHAKA, Bangladesh, Jan 7 (BSS): Bangladesh President Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed today expressed his confidence that the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Kyrgyzstan would be further strengthened in the days to come.

He also underscored the need for undertaking measures towards increasing people to people contract between the two Muslim brotherly countries to develop the bilateral relation further.

The President said this while the newly appointed Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan Orolbaeva Irina Abdyevna was presenting her credential to the President at Bangabhaban here today.

The President said that there is immense potentiality to increase bilateral trade between the two countries.

In this regard, he said, Bangladesh has been producing international standards pharmaceutical goods, melamine, garments and jute goods, and Kyrgyzstan could be benefited using the Bangladeshi products trough strengthening bilateral trade.

Professor Iajuddin also apprised the Kyrgyz ambassador of the education facilities in Bangladesh including opportunity for world class engineering, medical and science and technology education in the country.

He said, Kyrgyz students could enjoy the facility studying at different educational institutions here.

The President also mentioned internal political development in Bangladesh and said that the present government is fully committed to holding a free, fair and transparent election in the country creating a level-playing ground for all prospective participants within the envisaged time frame.

He said, the government hopes to leave a set of political legacy for all future governments here to emulate to fulfill the democratic aspirations of the nation.

Prof Iajuddin stated that the government is also determined to ensure good governance, fighting organized crime and corruption and ensure accountability at all spheres.

The President also mentioned Bangladesh's deep commitment to ensure international peace and said, the country earned laurels

for her international peacekeeping role. He also appreciated the commitment of professionalism as demonstrated by our military contingents working in various UN peacekeeping operations across the world.

He also hoped that Bangladesh and Kyrgyzstan would continue to work together for peace and stability of the world.

The Kyrgyz envoy praised Bangladesh's role in international arena and hoped that the ties in several fields between the two countries would be strengthened further.

She emphasized on increasing educational exchange programmes between the two countries.

Orolbaeva Irina said, the Kyrgyzstan has expertise in the filed of hydroelectric project, which can be used in Bangladesh to solve its power problems.

Earlier, on her arrival at Bangabhaban, the Kyrgyzstan Ambassador was given guard of honor by the President's Guard Regiment.

She also visited the guard.
