Anti-Corruption Commission to submit more charge sheets Wednesday, 05.09.2007, 08:08am (GMT6) UNB, Dhaka : The Anti-Corruption Commi-ssion will submit more charge sheets in 7-10 days against some of the corrupt suspects whose names appeared on the first list.
"Works (to submit charge sheets) are going on… we'll be able to submit charge sheets when the works (for submitting charge sheets) will be completed in 7-10 days," ACC Chairman Lt Gen (retd) Hasan Mashhud Chowdhury told reporters on Tuesday afternoon. "There should not be any gap…There should be a flow in the works," he said, adding, "If the cases against three persons (three former state ministers) are taken as test case, we, if necessary, will learn a lesson from this. There should not be any big gap." About today's Commission meeting, he said there was no new subject, and meetings need to be held to ensure coordination of the tasks taken by the ACC. Mashhud said the Commission has decided in principle how to provide reward money to the ACC officers who have done good jobs. Citing the case in Narayanganj and three others that are under trial in special courts, he said, "It's the responsibility of the Commission to evaluate good works and reward..." The ACC Chairman said the meeting also discussed the recruitment rules that need to be contained in the organogram and the budget, and decided the remuneration of the lawyers, who will fight for the Commission in the courts. He said the meeting discussed whether the flow of the works is okay and if the works of inquiry and investigation officers are going in the right direction. About his tomorrow's (Wednesday's) tour of Sirajganj, Bogra, Joypurhat and Naogaon by helicopter, Mashhud said he wants to visit some places before the weather gets worse. After this, he said, he would make his trips in a different manner like using scheduled flights to major destinations then another transports. © The Bangladesh Journal |
